There were two ways into the pavilion. One route led into a brightly lit cube of red glass, where there was an inscribed brass plate on the floor. The light here was so intense that it was only possible to read the text by kneeling down. A second route led into a black cube made of felt. As the dividing wall between the cubes was a one- way mirror, the people reading the brass plate were visible from inside the black cube, whose occupants were invisible to people in the red cube.
