Research & Exhibitions

This exhibition of Richard Avedon’s legendary photographic murals and related portraits was presented in a dramatic spatial composition designed by David Adjaye, at Gagosian’s 21st Street gallery. Providing an immersive environment through which to experience Avedon’s murals and portraits, the project was a continuation of David Adjaye’s longstanding investigation into the relationship between art and architecture. Adjaye’s design was a dynamic spatial gesture, which celebrated and offered new insight into Avedon’s photographs, while also re-casting the traditional gallery experience.
