Research & Exhibitions

A suitable ambience was required to exhibit a historic collection of aluminium artefacts at the Design Museum. The main elements in Adjaye’s proposal were very different in their materiality. The suspended ceiling made use of two types of folded aluminium sheet, plane and expanded, running in parallel strips across the space. The display units have the scale of small buildings and set up a series of transverse space that functioned like streets, with shop windows on each side and aluminium clouds above.
