Together with a panel of diverse experts, Sir David Adjaye will provide design guidance to City Hall and London councils and work with the Mayor of London to help advocate, shape and set the highest standards of design across the Greater London Authority. Sir David Adjaye will support and provide guidance to the Good Growth programme, which calls for sustainable, socially and economically inclusive development in the capital and for maximising the benefits of growth for the city’s neighbourhoods.

Speaking of his appointment Sir David Adjaye said: “Predictions of unprecedented growth within our capital urgently necessitate exceptional leadership and unparalleled design strategies in order for London to thrive as a successful and sustainable world city. But how also do we create and shape a city that benefits everyone, a city with inclusivity and diversity at its heart? These are some of the key challenges on which I will relish working with Mayor Khan, my fellow Design Advocates and the citizens that live, work and visit our capital. It will be an absolute honour to play a part in re-imagining London’s future.”

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I am delighted to welcome my talented team of Design Advocates who will be working with me to realise my vision for London as an inclusive city where growth brings benefits to communities. I am proud to have a team around me that is as diverse as the city it will serve. Together, we’ll shape a London where everyone has the chance to live and work in sustainable, well-designed, and inclusive places.”
