David Adjaye: Living Spaces presents, in rich detail, nine outstanding residential projects in diverse settings on four continents. Each project engages sensitively with its location and pushes the boundaries of spatial invention whilst challenging the perception of domestic space in the twenty-first century. From Victorian London, Ghana and Brooklyn through to desolate farmlands and urban jungles. Living Spaces provides, through vivid text alongside detailed and photographically rich visual documentation, a testament to the importance of Adjaye’s growing inventiveness and powerful new design ideas for residential architecture.
“Working with Sir David on the design for our home was such fun. He had a wonderful ability to interpret our practical needs into a design that is both ergonomic yet aesthetic. The house has become a tool to add efficiency to our living habits whilst providing visual treats around it for those moments when we can stop and appreciate it,” said Ed Reeve, architectural photographer and owner of Sunken House, London.
The book features essays and photos of nine of Adjaye’s signature houses including Pitch Black - New York, USA; Asem Pa, Make It Right - New Orleans, USA; Nanjing House - Nanjing, China; Nkron - Ghana; Hill House - Port of Spain.
