Working in partnership, Adjaye Associates and Stride Treglown have been chosen to create an innovative 10,600 m2 teaching and research facility that will be the new joint home for Cardiff University’s Schools of Mathematics and Computer Science & Informatics. The new centre of excellence for the co-locating Schools is part of a £600m investment programme by the University and will be Cardiff University’s largest campus upgrade for a generation.

By consolidating the two Schools under one roof, Cardiff University aims to create a world class educational facility that will encourage greater collaboration and interaction of the two disciplines, providing a highly creative environment that will stimulate co-working and high impact research. Currently, the two faculties are housed in separate locations within the University’s campus.

Lucy Tilley, Associate Director of UK & Global Projects at Adjaye Associates, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to create a dynamic platform for inter-disciplinary collaboration, research and innovation. Creating empowering spaces for education, community and learning has always been at the heart of what we do.”

The design and construction programme will be led by consultancy firm Arcadis and the new faculty building is scheduled to be completed in 2021.
